The rap legend was released from prison over the weekend.
Swizz Beatz updated fans on DMX‘s music and mental state after being released from prison over the weekend, confirming new music.
DMX was released from Gilmer Federal Correctional Institution Friday morning (January 25) after serving a one year sentence over tax evasion.
X has yet to update or new posts to his social media accounts. On Sunday (January 27), Swizz Beatz provided one via Instagram, saying, “I just got off the phone with my brother DMX! He told me this time he didn’t work out his body in jail he said he worked out his mind!”
It’s unclear if the dynamic duo and longtime collaborators will be working on new music together, but Swizz confirmed X will get back in the studio, writing, “He’s about to make music for the people that need his truth and pain!”
The post’s caption read, “Never count out raw talent!”
Upon his release, X performed an impromptu show at an anniversary party for the Mr. Ciao restaurant in Staten Island, NY.
Post-prison, X will reportedly remain under supervision for the next three years and has been ordered to pay $2.3 million in restitution to the IRS.
